ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

DESCRIPTION:

The Administrative Assistant is part of the Support Staff and is responsible for providing support to the ministers, leaders, and congregation. The employee will accomplish administrative, clerical, and communication duties to support the ministry of MCC.

  • Part-time, hourly employee; reports to Lead Minister

  • Work 2-4 days per week for a total of 14, 21, or 28 hours per week

  • Days and hours depend on the availability of the employee [Monday is mandatory]

 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accomplish general office duties [phone, email, walk-ins, mail, copier, meetings, etc.]      

  • Provide administrative support to staff, ministry leaders, elders, other support staff, etc. [communications, calendars, facility usage, proofreading, and best practices]

  • Assist the Communications Team with implementing the communications strategy to ensure accurate, professional, useful, and engaging communications take place through all communication channels

  • Ensure there is office coverage by support staff or volunteers during office hours

  • Train and manage volunteers to assist with administrative tasks

  • Coordinate and cross-train with other support staff to accomplish their duties as needed

  • Participate and actively engage in staff meetings, leadership meetings, retreats, etc.

  • Faithfully complete all other duties assigned by Lead Minister

 

 

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Most duties will involve a computer, so moderate computer skills with ability to learn new software and platforms is a must

  • Work onsite during church office hours [M-Th 9:00am-4:00pm]

  • Ability to work in an open office environment with regular interruptions

  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

  • Show initiative, work well with others, receive instruction, collaborate

 

 

BENEFITS:

  • Hourly rate at $18-$20, based on experience

  • Two (2) or three (3) weeks of paid vacation, based on experience

  • Twelve (12) paid holidays, including two (2) personal days

  • Able to request flexible hours or work-from-home as needed [not on a regular basis]

  • Work-from-home Christmas through New Years

 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Microsoft Office Suite [Publisher, Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, etc.]

  • Church Community Builder [or similar church management database]

  • Website platform [Wix, or something similar]

  • Graphic design [Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, etc.]
