The congregational meeting is a public meeting. It is open to anyone; and everyone is encouraged to attend.

THEIR ROLES:

Elders:  Equip godly leadership, guide the overall direction for the church, shepherd the congregation and protect the church from falsehood.

Current Elders: Larry Dodge, John Knott and Mark VanRheenen

Deacons:  Lead, recruit, train, and offer spiritual encouragement. Deacons set an example in service and leadership. They serve a two year term.

Current Deacons: Steve Cameron, Amanda Dodge, Barbara Juan, Ameen Kadri, Colleen Mead, Jeremy Tunks, Beth VanRheenen, Kent Wagner and Andy Young

NOMINEES:
ELDERS

Brian Carr

Brian has been married to his wife Linda since 2008. They have four daughters - Alyssa, Brittany, Abigail, and Ava. Brian began attending Macomb in 1993 as a teen within the youth group. He currently helps teach the teens on Sunday mornings. He enjoys spending time with his family and all sports. "Changed People Reaching People for Christ" is more than just a mission statement. It's a responsibility, and honor, of all those in the Kingdom to share the Gospel with others who may not know Jesus.

Frank Kania

Frank has been a member at Macomb since 1995. He served as deacon from 1999-2017 and is currently on a sabbatical as an elder. He has been married to Jann since 1988 and has three adult children: Frank III, Melissa, and Megan. They have eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Frank recognizes the change Christ has brought into his life and wants to reach out to others so they may come to know the love God has for them. His favorite saying is “Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil. IT IS POINTLESS!”. Frank enjoys bowling, model building, hunting, and fishing when he has time.

Scott Sytsma

Scott has been a member at Macomb Christian Church for 17 years. He is married to his wife, Ann, for 31 years, and they have three wonderful children, Paul (26), Ruth (24), and Eve (20). They live in Macomb (21 Mile and Card Rd area) and have for 22 years. He is a Safety Engineer at General Motors (26 years), responsible for making GM vehicles as safe as possible – one computer simulation and test at a time. Outside of work, Scott enjoys playing games (card and board), vacationing and spending time with his family, singing, woodworking, and golfing. He is actively involved in the Praise Team, is one of the assistants in the Special Needs classroom, is part of a LIFE Group, and has been a deacon at MCC in the past. He loves being a part of such a vibrant church! The highlight of his week is worshiping together each Sunday!

DEACONS

Barbara Juan

Barbara Juan has been an integral part of Macomb Christian Church since 2017, serving as a dedicated member and currently as a Deacon. She has shared a lifelong commitment with Hospicio since 1976. At the core of Barbara's faith lies the principle of selfless service to others. Her extensive professional experience encompasses facilitating support groups for victims of domestic violence, advocating for women and children, and providing compassionate support as a Stephen Minister. Guided by the profound principle that “At the end of our life, we will be judged on LOVE,” Barbara remains steadfast in her devotion to serving others.

Ameen Kadri

Ameen and his wife, Jenny, have attended Macomb since the summer of 2020. They have two daughters – Hannah, 13 and Brianna, 6. Ameen enjoys leading teams of people and teaching and empowering others. He is skilled in production and technology and believes when we strive for excellence in everything we do, we honor God and inspire others. Ameen is constantly aware of the hand of God around him and in awe of the blessings and provisions God puts in his life. He is passionate about living out his faith in his actions by using his time and energy to bless others and point them toward Christ. Ameen and his family enjoy camping, traveling, and spending time with friends as much as possible.

Amy Tunks

Amy Tunks is married to her husband Jeremy Tunks and just celebrated their 12 year anniversary. She has two kids (John, 10, and Allison, 8) who attend Parkway Christian School. She has attended Macomb for the past 10 years and is currently serves in multiple areas within the church. She has served as the Treasurer of our church for the past year and a half. She became a believer when she was in high school and has served the church since then in many different capacities.
