Current Outreach Opportunities
Saturday, November 2
9:30am - 12:00pm
We are joining with the City of Sterling Heights during their Serve Day. We're helping the residents by taking care of their yards and/or other light work around their house. Anyone who can use a rake or hold open a trash bag is welcome to serve. We meet at First Church of Sterling Heights, 39400 Dequindre at 9:30am. Bring gloves and some tools for yard work.
Since it is at the same time as our Women's Harvest Brunch, dads with their kids can take this opportunity and serve together. Teach your kids how to have a heart of compassionate service.
Saturday, november 9
8:00am - 1:00pm
rain or shine
This is a great way to meet new people as we serve along side each other to spruce up our campus, both inside and outside! This work day saves the church thousands of dollars by not having to hire others to do repairs and cleaning. All are welcome including children (child care is not provided). Come when you can; leave when you must. Bring your favorite yard tools; indoor cleaning supplies are on site. A home cooked lunch will be served.
Sunday, December 8
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Kids Against Hunger is an organization that provides fully nutritious food to impoverished children and families around the world…and around the corner. 15.3 million children under 18 in the United States live in households where they are unable to consistently access enough nutritious food necessary for a healthy life.
Hosting an Event with Kids Against Hunger is simple. Their mobile team comes to us! They bring the food, we supply the "man" power. We need 250 volunteers to give 2 hours of time to provide emergency food for those in need.
We'll gather in our Multi Purpose Room, set up tables for our assembly lines, and pack and pray over these meals.
Who Can You Help by Donating Blood?
Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
There’s no substitute for blood. When a patient receives blood, it was given in advance by a generous donor.
our next blood drive
is december 31!
Reading Coaches needed
partnership with Schwarzkoff elementary
We are coordinating with Schwarzkoff Elementary to provide Reading Coaches for their students. The goal is to help improve student's reading skills by having them read aloud to someone on a weekly basis. See how just one hour a week can have an impact in the life of a child, the school and our community.

Thank you to the many volunteers that cleaned, cooked, listened, transported, did laundry and a host of other activities. You lived out Jesus to our MCREST guests!
